Google appears to have violated its terms of service in the sale of ad space on its YouTube video service, a report from consulting firm Adalytics claims. The study observed video ad campaigns for over 1,100 brands between 2020 and 2023.
Google refuted the report in a June 27 blog post, saying it made “extremely inaccurate claims” about the company’s video ad program.
European Union regulators said on June 14 that Google may have to sell part of its adtech business and could face a fine of up to 10% of the company’s annual turnover in response to their concerns it had engaged in anti-competitive practices.
